About Me
My name is Amanda Vasconcelos, and I am a Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University. I am from the small town of Lakeville, MA, and relocated to California in 2022.
I am currently employed at Cruz Foam in Santa Cruz as a Mechanical Engineer. At Cruz Foam, I design extrusion dies in SolidWorks for the production of biocompatible packaging foam. Previously, I have worked in robotics, animatronics, and consumer goods. I have my CSWP certification and have taken courses in GD&T.
My professional interests lie in animatronics and robotics, and I am always trying to learn new skills. I love to design in CAD and get my hands dirty. I am happiest when I am working on CAD models, collaborating with others, and bringing ideas to life.
The robotics industry drives creativity through the unique challenges it brings. Designs need to be robust to endure repeated use and often mechanisms need to be created to produce complex motion from simpler motors. These challenges keep my gears turning and make me excited to face them everyday.
Outside of work, I love to pursue creative hobbies and spend time with friends. I also love baking, arts & crafts, working out, kayaking, and playing video games. In my free time, I also like to work on animatronic projects and utilize my 3D printer and hobbyist servos to mimic figures that I find interesting.
